Shelter From The Storm was founded in Islington in 2007 by Sheila Scott and Louie Salvoni. As homelessness rises in the streets of London, the charity provides a free emergency service where they shelter 36 people experiencing homelessness, every night of the year. Unfortunately, people who experience homelessness are seen to be marginalised in our society. Shelter From The Storm raises awareness and spreads the issues related to this social crisis. As a partner of Shelter From The Storm, Singer Capital Markets is supporting the charity through annual fundraising and regular volunteering activities.
Shelter From The Storm is committed to safeguarding, and proactively promotes the well-being of their guests. Their aim is not just to house their guests but to support them through offering work opportunities, ensuring each person receives the best of care and to have any particular need met, as well as supporting their guests to eventually have a safe and stable accommodation for the long term. Fundraising is a big factor for the charity; any funds aid their existing work and plans for the future. Throughout the day, volunteers at the shelter come to help make warm meals for breakfast and dinner for their guests, and make sure their guests feel welcome and taken care of. Shelter From The Storm’s vision is for charities, like them, to no longer be necessary.
